Fortune hires Fairchild as writer

Fortune managing editor Andy Serwer sent out the following staff hire announcement on Thursday:

Please welcome Caroline Fairchild, who joins Fortune as a reporter. Caroline, as you all know, has been doing outstanding work at Fortune for months already, checking those two oh-so-important boxes: High Quality and High Quantity. Prior to coming here Caroline worked at the HuffPo and Bloomberg and did some reporting in Thailand (now seemingly a fav place for Fortune reporters to cut their teeth.) Starting soon Caroline will be putting out a daily MPW email, (sort of like Term Sheet for MPW), and—I don’t think she can help herself here—all kinds of other great stuff too. Want to know more about Caroline? Check out her cool website which she created over the weekend with Strikingly:
Please join me in welcoming Caroline!

Fairchild was previously associate business editor at Huffington Post. She graduated cum laude from Duke University, where she was a Robertson Scholar. She has a degree in public policy and hold a certificate in policy journalism and media studies. Her honors thesis, “Coverage Of Burma In Six Elite Newspapers,” earned her the highest distinction from the Sanford School Of Public Policy.
