Former PC World editor to launch Technologizer site

Harry McCracken, the former editor of PC World, announced Tuesday that he is starting a new Web site called Technologizer in conjunction with Federated Media, which is run by former Wired magazine founder John Battelle.

The site will launch this summer. Technologizer will feature original news, reviews, analysis and community features for the general technology consumer from the novice PC user to the seasoned technology fanatic.

McCracken is a technology journalism veteran with deep roots in the industry. From 2004 to 2008, he was editor in chief of PC World. McCracken’s writing has also appeared in Slate and USA Today, and his expertise has been tapped by numerous television and radio outlets including CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR, BBC, the History Channel and many more.

“Everything I’ve done in my career has led up to this,â€? McCracken said. “I’ve been in technology journalism for close to two decades and I’ve found the right partner to help me strike out on my own. FM’s attitude is in perfect sync with the mission I foresee for Technologizer. I consider myself extremely lucky to be able to use the world’s most exciting medium – the Web – to help people make the most of the technology in their lives.â€?

Federated Media will leverage its Web development capabilities and long-standing relationships with brand marketers to help McCracken roll out the new site. McCracken owns Technologizer and will retain full control over its content and editorial voice.
