Butch Maier, who was editor of business publication Inside Business for the past two years, has joined the Hampton University faculty as an assistant professor and will teach a business journalism course.
The course will teach students how to cover a business beat, how to use the Bloomberg terminal, and how to follow the money.
At Inside Business, based in Norfolk, Virginia, Maier was writer, associate editor and editor-in-chief and set several records for page views and unique users on InsideBiz.com. He left the publication in April.
Maier also worked as a copy editor at the Virginian-Pilot, a page designer and copy editor at the Plain Dealer in Cleveland, and a sports page designer and copy editor at the St. Petersburg Times and Boston Globe.
He also worked at the Akron Beacon-Journal and Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
