Former Fort Worth biz reporter dies

June Johnson, a business reporter at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, died earlier this month from a heart attack. She was 67.

June JohnsonMaira Garcia writes, “Born Mary June Harms on Oct. 7, 1940, in Duncan, Okla., Mrs. Johnson graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1962 with a degree in journalism. She worked in Washington, D.C., as a correspondent for the Daily Oklahoman and the San Francisco Chronicle. Later, she worked for the Tulsa Tribune and the Mid-Cities News.

“In 1976, she and her first husband, J.L. White, moved to Arlington. He died in 1991.

“Mrs. Johnson, then known as June White, was a business reporter at the Star-Telegram from 1991 until she retired in 1998.”
