Former Cheddar anchor Kori Hale has co-founded a new business media company called CultureBanx.
CultureBanx is a central repository of business and financial news for black professionals. She will also serve as lead reporter for the website.
“This news platform is important because I now have the opportunity to cover business news through a diverse lens like never before,” Hale said.
The content includes a “Why This Matters” section to highlight the connection between businesses and the black community. CultureBanx uses music as a catalyst to inspire an alternative approach toward interacting with business news.
“Ultimately we’re building a news source for black professionals to tap into as business leaders, entrepreneurs and cultural innovators,” said Hale.
The media company is in talks with investors for its seed funding round.
Hale joined Cheddar in October 2016 from CNBC, where she was a producer of its top-rated shows “Squawk on the Street” and “Squawk Alley.” Prior to joining CNBC, Hale was an international producer for Bloomberg TV and a financial correspondent for TheStreet.com.
She previously worked at UBS Investment Bank in London and also as an investment banker for Goldman Sachs.
