Betsy Stark, a business news correspondent for ABC News until being laid off in 2010, is joining Ogilvy Public Relations as managing director of content and media strategy.
Her work includes the first-ever Business Emmy for her enterprise reporting on “The Broken Pension Promise” and a national Emmy for her contributions to ABC’s team coverage of “The Inauguration of Barack Obama.” She is the winner of two prestigious George Foster Peabody awards, one for her contributions to ABC’s coverage of “9/11” and a second for her participation in “ABC 2000,” the network’s coverage of the dawn of the new millennium.
Before joining ABC News in 1998, Stark worked at Dow Jones for 10 years, where she was correspondent and later senior producer of the weekly Wall Street Journal Report. In 1996, she was named anchor and editor of her own live, daily business news program, “Heard on the Street A.M,” produced by Dow Jones for a local New York station. She also anchored its public affairs program, Metro Journal, which won an award for local political coverage in its first year.
Earlier in her career, as a documentary producer for Inside Story, the PBS series on the media, she was honored with an Emmy Award for Outstanding Investigative Reporting.
Stark is a graduate of Smith College.
