Forbes takes down article due to lack of disclosure

Forbes.com has taken down an article from its website due to a lack of disclosure by one of its writers, reports Politico’s Daniel Lippman.

Lippman writes, “Forbes.com has taken down a post about the Pentagon’s $10 billion JEDI cloud contract that alleged Oracle may have been behind a ‘misinformation campaign’ that targeted competitor Amazon, POLITICO’s Daniel Lippman reports. John Furrier, cofounder and CEO of SiliconANGLE Media who wrote the article, said he was told it was pulled on Tuesday because he didn’t disclose that Oracle and Amazon are customers of his company.

“Furrier told POLITICO that after concerns were raised, he wanted to address them but to no avail. He stood by the story calling it ‘highly accurate and highly relevant.’ Forbes ended its contract with Furrier and pulled the story because it ‘did not adhere to our strict editorial guidelines,’ a spokesman said.”
