Forbes seeks assistant social media editor

Forbes is seeking an assistant social media editor.

This person will be responsible for managing our main Twitter account, @Forbes, and will help to develop our social and mobile strategy going forward. Our ideal candidate has experience managing a large online community, knows how to make a great GIF, and has worked in a digital newsroom.

Responsibilities:

Managing the @Forbes Twitter account, including…

    • Coordinating live-tweeting efforts of both brand events (like Forbes’ conferences) and second-screen experiences (like the Oscars)
    • Planning, managing, and reporting on Twitter chats, with the possibility of expanding our very popular #AskForbes concept to other platforms
    • Developing a strategy for real-time engagement on Twitter
    • Researching new platforms and best practices
    • Assisting with social media coverage during live events & conferences

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
