Forbes hires Abreu as assistant editor for money

Maria Abreu

Forbes has hired Maria Abreu to be an assistant editor on the money team.

She started on Tuesday.

Abreu recently graduated from New York University with a master’s degree in journalism and international relations.

She has been working for the Latin America News Dispatch and for Pavement Pieces, where she wrote about the COVID-19 struggles of the Venezuelan population in Miami and New York. She has also contributed to HuffPost.

Abreu was also a communication specialist for NextEra Energy Inc. for more than two years.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
