Jeff Bercovici of Conde Nast Portfolio writes Monday that Forbes magazine is denying a report that it’s about to be sold to a Russian businessman.
Bercovici writes, “There’s no question there’s some crazy stuff going on in the media world. But crazy like a Russian billionaire buying Forbes? That’s not happening.
“At least not according to Forbes itself, which is denying a report that Onexim Group, a private equity firm founded by Russian tycoon Mikhail Prokhorov, is set to buy the venerable business magazine and its associated properties.
“‘Forbes absolutely denies this rumor, and has no knowledge of the source,’ said a spokeswoman when I asked her about the rumors. ‘Forbes Russia is also not for sale to this group.'”
