Florida paper names new real estate reporter

Drew Harwell has been named the new real estate reporter at the Tampa Bay Times, formerly the St. Petersburg Times.

He replaces Mark Puente, who has been named the new City Hall reporter in St. Petersburg. Harwell confirmed the move on his Twitter feed.

Harwell currently covers the people and politics of Clearwater, which is just north of St. Petersburg. He previously covered covering Pinellas County and the city of Dunedin.

Harwell joined the paper in 2009. He is a graduate of the University of Florida, where he was a journalism and history major. He was also a winner of the annual Roy W. Howard National Collegiate Reporting Competition.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
