Richard Anguiano, who has held a number of key editing roles at the Ocala Star-Banner during the past 20 years, has been named business editor.

Managing editor Tom McNiff writes, “The move to business editor represents a homecoming of sorts for Anguiano, who was the editor of the Ocala Business Journal from March, 2007 to December, 2010 until it was discontinued by the Star-Banner.

“As business editor, he will coordinate coverage of various segments of the local economy, reporting on the comings and goings of retail businesses and tracking trends in banking, employment, real estate, industry and more.

“‘Richard has broken new ground for us as social media editor and he’s the right person to bring that passion for community engagement to our business coverage, which needs more attention as our business climate in Marion County improves,’ said Ray. ‘There are important stories to tell. Richard’s contacts and background in the business community make this a natural fit. As we seek ways to increase the amount of local content in the Star-Banner and on ocala.com, this is an important step forward.’

“Anguiano joined the Star-Banner in 1993 as a reporter. He has filled several key roles in the news operation over the years, serving as an assistant city editor and news editor in addition to his work as Ocala Business Journal editor and as social media editor.”
