Florida paper names its biz editor as its new metro editor

Graham Brink, the business editor of the Tampa Bay Times, has been named the paper’s metro editor, according to a story on its website.

Cara Fitzpatrick of the Times writes, “Graham Brink, 44, will move into the role after six years as the Times‘ business editor. He succeeds Jennifer Orsi, who was recently named managing editor.

“‘Graham has a terrific record of excellence as an editor. I’m thrilled to have him leading our vital local news efforts,’ Orsi said.

“Brink came to the Times in 1997 after getting a master’s degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina. He has worked in local news in the four counties in the newspaper’s circulation area, including covering public safety and courts in Brooksville; state and federal courts in Tampa; and general assignment reporting in St. Petersburg. He started as an intern in Pasco County.

“He became an editor in 2006, eventually becoming the night metro editor. He became business editor in 2008, and under his leadership, the Times has won several national awards for its business coverage, including this year’s National Headliner award for Ivan Penn‘s coverage of nuclear power issues.”
