Florida paper looking for new business team leader

The Florida Times-Union, the daily newspaper in Jacksonville, Fla., is looking for a business team leader.

Frank Denton, the editor of the paper and vice president of journalism for the Morris Publishing Group, tells Talking Biz News that the person would direct the other business reporters at the paper.

An internal job description says the person would “lead expansion of business coverage, locally and nationally for the newspaper and the website.  Work with reporters to help them build them build their beats and increase enterprise and investigative stories.  Will write stories and perhaps a business-related column.  Must understand the value of urgency online and know how to balance that with the importance of enterprise.”

Wayne Ezell, the paper’s former reader’s advocate, had also been the business editor. The paper’s business news staff competes with the Jacksonville Business Journal, an American City Business Journals paper.
