I’m super excited to announce that Jeff Harrington will be the new deputy government & politics editor at the Tampa Bay Times.
Jeff will be in charge of our Tallahassee bureau and work closely with our partners at the Miami Herald. At the same time, he’ll keep reporting and writing on business issues that affect our state. Consider it a writer/editor job uniquely crafted for this prolific reporter.
Jeff joined the Times in 1998 and has been writing and editing business news, most recently on the economy and insurance. Since the bottom fell out of the U.S. economy in 2008, Jeff has been at the forefront of explaining to readers what’s wrong, what the forecast is and what hope they have. He regularly brings strong stories about the struggling middle class, the underemployed and corporate wrongdoing. He is a clutch reporter capable of handling any assignment he’s given.
A Notre Dame graduate, Jeff previously worked at the Cincinnati Enquirer, The Blade (Toledo, Ohio) and City News Bureau of Chicago.
This smart, talented team player is headed to the editing ranks to raise the bar on our state coverage. I look to him to continue growing the partnership between our Politics team and our Business team.
