FitSmallBusiness.com, a New York-based website that covers small business news, announced Thursday the promotion of Priyanka Prakash to managing editor, a new position.

Prakash will work with a team of seven staff writers. Prior to FitSmallBusiness.com, she served as general counsel at a Silicon Valley technology startup.

Prakash has a law degree from the University of Washington and graduated from Cal-Berkeley with a dual degree in communications and political science.

“Priyanka had done an outstanding job leading our financial and legal coverage over the last year,” said David Waring, editor-in-chief and co-founder of FitSmallBusiness, in a statement. “We are proud that the growth of Fit Small Business has allowed us to expand our writing team and create new opportunities for advancement.”

Started in 2013 by David Waring and publisher Marc Prosser, the website has grown to over 500,000 unique visitors per month.
