Tiffany Wu, Americas desk head and deputy regional editor at Reuters, sent out the following announcement:
I am pleased to announce that Jim Finkle will be returning to Reuters to cover cybersecurity. Jim left in April to run communications for a cyber startup, but quickly realized that his heart remains in journalism.
Jim first joined Reuters in 2005 as a tech reporter covering IT services, hardware and software. He built cybersecurity into a beat years before many of our competitors began to take the subject seriously. Jim has worked with reporters across the file and around the world to break lots of big stories, including scoops on data breaches at Target, Saudi Aramco and Sony. Prior to Reuters, he worked at Bloomberg, UPI and other news organizations in Japan, Taiwan and California.
Jim was one of the original members of the Reuters Americas Talent Council and worked on outreach to LGBT groups. He is a big theater fan, attends silent meditation retreats and swims regularly. Jim still speaks rusty Mandarin and says he hopes to use it one day to facilitate interviews with Chinese hackers.
Please join me in welcoming Jim back to Reuters. He starts on July 27 in Boston.
