Financial Times web site appoints first video chief

Martin Stabe of the Press Gazette in London reports Monday that the Financial Times has hired its first head of video for its web site.

Stabe wrote, “In this new role, Richard Edgar will be responsible for developing FT.com’s video section, which is currently producing more than 100 videos per month.

Financial Times“Edgar joins FT.com from Reuters Video, where he was editor in charge for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He previously spent three years as Reuters Television’s Frankfurt correspondent, where he covered politics and financial news. He was the business editor of BBC Radio 4’s Today programme from 1998 to 2000.

“Edgar will report to FT.com editor James Montgomery.

“FT.com has also launched several new video products, including a weekly interview produced in Asia, View from the Markets, a special edition of ‘The Short View’ to mark the anniversary of the 1987 stock market crash, and an online business lecture series from the Indian School of Business.”
