Patrick Jenkins

Patrick Jenkins is the new deputy editor at the Financial Times under Roula Khalaf, who succeeded Lionel Barber as editor of the business news organization.

Jenkins will begin his new role on Jan. 17 and will be overseeing the newsroom and its network of correspondents.

Jenkins joined FT in 1998 and held the post of financial editor for the past six years. He worked to shape the company’s financial coverage and managed teams including the banking and markets writers.

Before that, he was a banking editor and led a 10-person global financial services reporting team in the immediate aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis.

He was also the man behind the launch of FT’s City Network debating forum.

“Patrick brings a wealth of journalism and management experience to the job. Over the past decade as banking and financial editor he has decoded the seismic overhaul of the global financial industry for our readers with agenda-setting journalism. I’m looking forward to working closely with him in this next chapter for the FT and I’m excited to see how he continues to bring more innovation to our newsroom,” said Khalaf.
