Financial News hires Weeks to cover fin tech

Ryan Weeks

Ryan Weeks has been hired by Barron’s Group as financial technology correspondent at Financial News.

Weeks will be based in London and will lead FN’s coverage of financial technology, from the startups helping investment banks and asset managers bringing their operations into the 21st century to the financial giants racing to explore new technologies such as artificial intelligence and cloud computing.

He will also write Fintech Files, a weekly e-mail newsletter about all things fin tech. He will report to features editor Dave Morris.

Weeks formerly edited AltFi, an online trade publication focused on alternative finance, digital banking and robo advisors.

He has a degree in history from Newcastle University. He is also an aspiring fiction writer and published his first novel in 2018.

Financial News is a Dow Jones publication that covers the finance sector and business of London.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
