William Wright, who left his job as editor of Financial News earlier this year, has returned to the online publication to write a column on investing banking.
It is read by people in the investment banking and asset management community, particularly in the UK and Europe, but also in the U.S. Its readership is driven mainly through its website, which has more than 55,000 paid subscribers.
Since 2007, the site has been part of Dow Jones & Co., which purchased the site for 27 million pounds. At the time of the purchase, the site had 35,000 paid subscribers.
Financial News was founded in March 1996 as the weekly newspaper about the European securities and investment banking industry. The Financial Times funded the original business plan for Financial News, but decided against backing its launch.
