Fierce hires Ellison as editor in chief

Ayla Ellison

Fierce, which publishes health care publications, has hired Ayla Ellison as editor in chief.

She will start next week and oversee Fierce Healthcare, Fierce HealthIT, Fierce Biotech and Fierce Pharma.

Ellison has been reporting on finance, legal & regulatory, compensation and transaction and valuation issues for Becker’s Hospital Review. In addition to producing content for the Becker’s Hospital Review website and print edition, she has editorial responsibility over the CFO E-Weekly.

Ellison graduated with a JD from Southern Illinois University School of Law, where she served as a writer and editor for the Journal of Legal Medicine.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
