Fast Company’s Farr hired by CNBC to cover tech

Christina Farr

Christina Farr, a senior writer for Fast Company magazine for the past 18 months, has been hired by CNBC.

At CNBC, she will be covering biotech and health technology stories for its website. At Fast Company, she specialized in electronic medical records, health software, genetics and biotechnology.

She will be reporting into Matt Rosoff, who was recently joined CNBC from Business Insider as part of the network’s investment in its digital news operation.

Before joining Fast Company, Farr worked at KQED in San Francisco as the digital health editor and an NPR contributor. She reported on the intersection between technology and medicine, with a focus on electronic health records, longevity, precision medicine and Silicon Valley companies, such as Google and Apple.

She also worked at Reuters as a technology and health correspondent, reporting on Apple’s talks with Federal Trade Commission, Apple’s enterprise assault and partnerships, Google X’s Life Sciences business unit, the first hospitals to adopt Apple’s HealthKit service, as well as Facebook’s plans to develop applications for patients.

Before Reuters, Farr was an investigative reporter for VentureBeat, which is also based in the San Francisco Bay area.

She was raised in London and received graduate degrees from University College London and Stanford University.

He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
