The workers voted in June to unionize with the Writers Guild of America East. A “clear majority” of Fast Company‘s 40 editorial, social and photo staffers signed union cards to make the Writers Guild their collective-bargaining representative, the union announced at that time.
In a statement Thursday, Executive Director Lowell Peterson said: “We welcome the editorial and photo staff at Fast Company to the movement for collective bargaining in digital media, and we look forward to building a productive relationship with the employer. Unionizing and negotiating will give these hardworking employees a meaningful voice in the decisions that affect their work lives.”
Earlier this year, the magazine named Stephanie Mehta as its editor in chief.
The magazine is owned by Mansueto Ventures, which also owns Inc. magazine.
The Writers Guild of America East is a labor union representing writers in motion pictures, television, news and digital media.
