Executive editor of D CEO leaves for real estate firm

Christine Perez, the executive editor of D CEO magazine in Dallas, has left the business magazine to become a public relations person for a Texas real estate firm.

Perez is now a senior communications specialist for Cushman & Wakefield. She leads its media relations and public relations efforts for the state of Texas, including Dallas, Houston and Austin.

Perez had been at the magazine, named the best regional business magazine in the U.S. for the past four years, since 2010, first as managing editor and then executive editor for the past two years. She was also editor of D Real Estate Daily, its commercial real estate news site.

Before that, Perez spent 10 years at the Dallas Business Journal, first as its commercial real estate reporter and then its managing editor. She also worked at the Johnson County Business Times.

Perez has been a board member of the Alliance of Area Business Publishers. She majored in accounting at Central Michigan University and studied journalism at the University of Minnesota.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
