Mark Maurer, a former reporter and editor for New York real estate publication The Real Deal and current Knight-Bagehot fellow at Columbia University, will head to the Wall Street Journal as a reporter for CFO Journal.
Maurer begins his new role next week.
At The Real Deal, he reported on New York City real estate, generating scoops on large property deals, development and financing. His reporting, which has won seven awards from the National Association of Real Estate Editors, includes an in-depth look at the Hasidic community’s New York City real estate investments.
Before joining the media company in 2013, he was a copy editor/features reporter for The Newark Star-Ledger. Previously, he was a news reporter for The Jersey Journal.
As a student at Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a B.A. in Journalism, he was senior film and music critic for The Daily Collegian in State College.
