Ex-SF Chronicle tech reporter Lang joining Washington Post

Marissa Lang

Marissa Lang, a former technology reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle, is joining the Washington Post on the local desk’s breaking news team.

She starts on Monday.

Lang covered the intersection of technology and culture for the Chronicle, which she joined in 2015, focusing on how the tech industry and technology itself influence and reshape the Bay Area, its people and communities. She was among the first reporters to write about gender inequality and sexual harassment at tech companies. She also wrote about Twitter’s suspension of questionable user accounts, Russian bots and discrimination at some of Silicon Valley’s most recognizable companies.

Previously, she covered City Hall for the Sacramento Bee, criminal justice and same-sex marriage for the Salt Lake Tribune and breaking news for the Tampa Bay Times.

Lang is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and is fluent in Spanish.

At The Post, Lang will be mining the region for hard-to-find stories that reflect the personality and people of the region in ways that resonate with readers across the country. She grew up in New York City but is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where she was editor of The Diamondback.
