Michael Nuñez, former deputy technology editor at Mashable, has left the publication to join Forbes as an associate editor.
Nuñez will cover Facebook, social media trends, and the industry’s ever-changing landscape. Prior to his time at Mashable, Nuñez worked as a reporter and editor at Gizmodo and Popular Science.
At Gizmodo, Nuñez led the 2016 Facebook investigative series that pried open the inner workings of Facebook’s Trending Topics and news operation, foreshadowing the broader revelations of problems with Facebook’s News Feed. At Mashable, he led a series of investigations and breaking news stories on Coinbase SEC complaints, Instagram 2FA security and Eero’s acquisition by Amazon. Previously, Nuñez edited the front of the book for Popular Science.
Nuñez received his Master’s degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism with a major in magazine writing.
