OLD Media Moves

Entrepreneur lays off four in shift to digital

Entrepreneur magazine has laid off four editorial staffers in a move to more digital products.

Editor in chief Jason Feifer, in a statement, told Talking Biz News:

We’re restructuring our digital offerings, with the goal of developing new products that are even more useful for entrepreneurs. This requires us to build a different team with different skillsets. As a result, we let four staffers go today. It’s always difficult to make these changes, and we wish them well.

This change has no impact on the print magazine, and entrepreneurs can expect lots of new and exciting offerings from our digital properties later this year.

Entrepreneur has launched two digital programs — Entrepreneur Insider and Ask an Expert — in the past year that it is excited about.

Stephen Bronner, who started as contributors editor then most recently served as news director during his five-and-a-half years at Entrepreneur, were among the staffers laid off.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
