When I look back over the past two years, two people have played vital roles in managing our tremendous growth for Entrepreneur’s online site: Jason Fell and Lauren Covello.Sadly, as many of you know, Jason is leaving us for a dream corporate job.Happily, we get to promote Lauren to managing editor of Entrepreneur.com.Lauren has always been a skilled editor, with a true commitment to mentoring and fostering talent. That was highlighted last year when two of her direct reports, Kate Taylor and Laura Entis, were honored by min as Rising Stars in media. Both have credited Lauren’s leadership and fellowship for their achievements. But, beyond simply being a good editor, Lauren has also developed into a thoughtful, innovative manager. She revamped our approach to daily news, helped shepherd better cooperation with our book unit and streamlined communication with Entrepreneur Magazine, allowing both properties to work more in harmony, to the benefit of our audience. Her qualities weren’t just appreciated internally: Earlier this year, she was named one of Folio magazine’s Top Women in Media.Lauren came to Entrepreneur Media in July 2013 to serve as our Deputy Editor for Entrepreneur.com. Prior to that, she held various online roles for me at FOX Business Network. (She will likely be eligible for canonization simply for having worked for me for eight years.)We will be restructuring some roles in the coming weeks with Lauren’s promotion, to help us support some new initiatives. As you all know, this is an exciting year for Entrepreneur Media, with the launch of our Entrepreneur Network video venture, the unveiling of our inaugural Entrepreneur 360 list and conference, the ramping up of our contributor network, and programming with our partners at AlleyNYC. Lauren has proven herself to be a great steward of our brand, and will ensure we continue to balance our growth with the commitment to solid, ethical journalism and storytelling our audience has always demanded from us.Lastly, I want to take a moment to recognize Jason. Words do not do his tenure here justice (though that’s never stopped me from trying, by using as many as possible). It has been an honor to have such a committed and professional partner in our online growth. It is difficult to grow as quickly (and, more importantly, sustainably) in this media market, and the plans Jason put in place, notably the relationships he developed with our publishing partners, became a cornerstone on which to build entrepreneur.com network. What’s more, he always put the needs and desires of the audience first, a trait necessary, but sadly rare, nowadays in media. Jason will me missed, but his presence will continue to be felt. Please join me in congratulating Lauren on her promotion and in wishing Jason all the best for his new adventure.
