Edmonton paper names new biz reporter

Gordon Kent, who has worked at the Edmonton Journal since 1986, moved Monday to the business news desk.

He’s a general business writer for the Journal, covering such areas as development, energy and the retail industry.

Kent joined the Journal following jobs at the Brandon Sun and the St. Paul (Alberta) Journal. He has covered labor and children’s issues, as well as spending time as a features editor and copy editor.

From 1999 to 2004, he was the Journal’s legal affairs writer, and spent the next 12 years reporting on civic affairs.

Kent also does monthly restaurant reviews and is part of the reviewing team for Edmonton’s annual Fringe theatre festival, the largest theatre festival in North America.
