Lewis DVorkin, the chief product officer at Forbes, has been named editor in chief of the Los Angeles Times.
Ryan Faughnder of the Times writes, “At Forbes, DVorkin held roles including executive editor, editor and chief product officer. He previously worked at the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek and the New York Times.
“‘Lewis was our first choice after an extensive search, and it’s a testament to the strength of our brand that he chose to join us,’ Levinsohn said in an email.”

DVorkin was the founder and CEO of True/Slant, which Forbes invested in and acquired.
Previously, DVorkin was senior vice president for programming at AOL, where he was responsible for news, sports, and network programming and played an instrumental role in the launch of TMZ.com. He was also executive editor at Forbes magazine, where he spearheaded the magazine’s redesign, managed the annual Forbes 400 Richest Americans list and created the Celebrity 100 List. He was Page One editor of The Wall Street Journal, a senior editor at Newsweek, and an editor at The New York Times.
