Cathy Duchamp has been hired as assistant managing editor of the Puget Sound Business Journal.

Duchamp writes, “After KUOW, I went back to local TV news at what’s now Fox 13 to introduce an editorial planning culture to a newsroom primarily focused on breaking news. It’s the closest I’ve come to consulting work, with some wins and some losses. I was able to leverage my storytelling skills and return to the tech industry as a content strategist at Zillow. And then, for the first time, I got laid off, as part of Zillow’s exit from the iBuying, or house-flipping, business.

“A layoff is a humbling experience. But it made me reflect on what I really like to do and what I’m good at: developing storylines for special coverage, helping reporters do their best work, and jumping in wherever needed to help a team succeed. These are the reasons I am thrilled to be at the Business Journal.

“My goal is to bring you a breadth of stories that reflect the diversity of the region in terms of the people, industries and innovations. I’m excited to dive deep into the business ecosystem to find small stories with big meaning, and big stories with memorable people. I look forward to your help and guidance along the way.”
