Almar Latour, executive editor at The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones Newswires and Marketwatch.com, leads the project of building a global, digital-first newsroom.
He sent out the following announcement to the staff on Thursday:
Starting in the new year, we’re launching an Audience Engagement team– a group of editors on the real-time desk who will help make sure that our stories will drive and participate in the biggest debates and discussions among our readers.
The team will include social media editors and search and analytics specialists. They’ll help identify the key stories that are likely to dominate the day, and they will help strategize how to make sure we’re reaching the right audience for each such story.
The team will be headed up by Liz Heron, who will return from leave in the new year. Liz will report to Deputy Real-Time Desk Editor Erin White for news matters and to Digital Editor Tracy Corrigan for strategic development.
