Dow Jones seeks media companies to hire biz news interns

Media companies are invited to sign up for the Dow Jones News Fund’s 2015 summer business reporting internship program.

“We recruit mature, skilled interns to understand and pursue business stories that matter while using technologies today’s media environment demands,” said Linda Shockley, DJNF managing director, in a statement.

Participating news organizations agree to pay interns no less than $400 per week for 10 to 12 weeks and to give DJNF a $1,200 grant to defray the cost of pre-internship training. Students who return to school after successful internships will receive $1,000 college scholarships provided by DJNF.

Business reporting interns will be trained at New York University by Will Sutton, journalism professor at Grambling State University. Several business journalists and professors guest lecture during the weeklong seminar, which will start in May. Interested editors can contact Sutton by email at resultswithwill@aol.com or Shockley at 609-520-5929. Review our brochure at https://www.newsfund.org.

The Fund has offered the business reporting internship program since 1995. Recent media participants include The Wall Street Journal, The Denver Post, Thomson Reuters, the Cape Cod Times, Newsday, McClatchy Co., the National Endowment for Financial Education, Patch.com, the Abilene Reporter-News and the Advertising Specialty Institute.
