Simon Constable has been hired by Dow Jones Newswires to write a new column about the commodities markets, according to an internal e-mail from Americas senior editor Rick Stine.
Stine writes, “The focus of the new column will be investment ideas for people interested in the commodities markets. Some of the columns will be aimed at professionals in the commodities markets and others will tell readers outside of the commodities world why developments there are important to them.
“Simon will report to me. He begins on August 7.
“Simon comes to Newswires from TheStreet.com where he was a senior correspondent writing about commodities and currencies. Part of his work there involved creating video and podcasts.
“Before that, Simon worked as a consultant for the Hay Group. His diversified background includes four years at General Motors in the late 1990s where he was part of a team evaluating GM’s pension accounting and other funding issues. He wrote research reports for Kidder Peabody in the firm’s equity research department in the early 1990s. And he wrote about the metals markets for an industry publication and later a research firm.
“Simon has an M.A. in Journalism (Business and Economic Reporting) from New York University and an M.B.A. from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia. He has an M.A. in economics from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.”
