Dow Jones Newswires names new U.S. equities editor

Dow Jones Newswires managing editor for euities Linda Fung made the following staff announcement on Wednesday:

I am pleased to announce that Michael Driscoll will be joining Dow Jones Newswires as the U.S. equities market editor. Michael will manage the group that covers the U.S. stock market, options market and initial public offerings. The six-person team writes for Dow Jones Newswires as well as the online and print editions of The Wall Street Journal.

Michael is currently an assistant news editor at the Markets Desk for The Wall Street Journal, where he assists in the planning and publication of the Money & Investing section. Prior to that, he was an assistant news editor and slot editor at the New York Daily News, planning and designing the local sections and managing the copy desk through multiple editions. He has also worked as a reporter at The Journal in Martinsburg, W. Va. and as Managing Editor of Eye, where he helped launch the American book-packaging imprint of British-based Quarto Group. Michael is a graduate of Emory University.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
