Dow Jones Newswires names DC deputy bureau chief

Rob Wells, the Washington bureau chief for Dow Jones Newswires, named Mark Anderson as the bureau’s deputy chief, according to an internal e-mail on Tuesday.

Wells writes, “Mark will retain his reporting position at the Supreme Court and will assist me with running the bureau. In his new position, Mark will help me organize daily news coverage and continue our push for more exclusive reporting. He also will help me with training, technology issues, coordinating with the Wall Street Journal and other new initiatives such as the algorithmic trading product.

“Mark has worked for Dow Jones for 15 years, first as a Wall Street Journal intern and then rising to Newswires special writer. Mark has handled several major beats: Securities and Exchange Commission, Congress and Supreme Court. In between, he has handled economic indicators, Federal Reserve news and political coverage, among other duties. A native of Tennessee, Mark earned a masters of arts in public policy and journalism from American University and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He is an accomplished photographer and has explored the wild areas of the East Coast and beyond by kayak, cross country skis and mountain bike.

“Mark will be a valuable resource to the entire bureau and a source of continuity as we expand. Mark has excellent news judgment and my complete trust. Please welcome me in congratulating Mark and wishing him success with the new assignment.”
