Dow Jones names new senior VP

Ian Weston, corporate development director of News International Ltd. in England, will become senior vice president of special projects, for Dow Jones & Co., CEO Les Hinton announced Tuesday.

Hinton said: “I am delighted Ian will be joining the Dow Jones team to help us shape our future. This is a time of exciting change for the company, and Ian brings years of top-level experience in the newspaper industry. He has been key to developing radical change in News Corporation’s British newspapers, in particular the company’s recent $1.3 billion project to install state-of-the-art printing presses.”

Weston said: “Dow Jones is a phenomenal company with great potential to grow and prosper in the years to come. I am honored to be invited to play a part in making it happen.”

Weston, 43, served as director of circulation and sales and head of business development at News International. Before joining News in 1995, he was a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group.
