Dow Jones Investment Banker names new DME

Rick Stine, senior editor for innovations at Dow Jones Newswires, sent out the following announcement on Tuesday:

As Dow Jones Investment Banker approaches its two-year anniversary, it makes sense for us to reposition and strengthen our management structure to allow for the creation of even more and better idea-generating columns as well as sharpen our focus on how the service is used by our customers.

With that, I am pleased to announce that John Morris will become a deputy managing editor overseeing the editors and columnists for DJIB. Arindam Nag continues as a deputy managing editor and his primary focus will now be to work more closely with our business and sales colleagues on the functionality of DJIB and how it is delivered.  Arindam will be the main editorial liaison with the DJIB product group as new design elements are introduced into the product. John and Arindam will report to me.

John has been a news editor for DJIB since 2009.  Before Dow Jones, John was an editor for The Daily Deal and its various online and weekly publications.  He was also an editor with the American Lawyer magazine for seven years.  John made the switch to journalism from the legal profession, where he worked in private practice and with the city and county of San Francisco.  He recently published a book on Blackstone.

John has a law degree from Harvard and an undergraduate degree in Philosophy from the University of California at Berkley.

Arindam, a 2008 William Clabby award winner,  has close to 20 years of financial journalism experience in New York, London and India. Arindam joined DJIB in 2008 and he worked closely with Adam Smallman  and others to help define the new service. Before that, he was a senior columnist for the “Heard on the Street” team. Arindam joined Dow Jones Newswires from Reuters, where he worked for  more than 11 years as a reporter.  He also spent three years as a reporter for the Economic Times of India.

Arindam received an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He received a Bachelor’s of Commerce degree from St. Xavier’s College, Calcutta. He is a chartered alternative investment analyst.
