Dow Jones econ reporter says arrivederci

Luca Di Leo, a senior economics reporter for Dow Jones Newswires and The Wall Street Journal, is leaving the news organization to return to Italy.

In an e-mail to his colleagues send Wednesday afternoon, Di Leo wrote, “After a truly eventful 11 years, tomorrow will be my last day at Dow Jones. It’s been an honor and a great pleasure to work with so many talented journalists and fun people at Dow Jones Newswires and The Wall Street Journal in Europe and the U.S..

“Starting next month, I’ll be heading the press office of Italian food company Barilla, based in Parma.”

Di Leo has worked for Dow Jones since October 2009 in Washington, focusing on the U.S. economy and the Federal Reserve. Before that, he was Rome bureau chief for Dow Jones from August 2006 to September 2009.

Di Leo also worked for five years as a correspondent for Dow Jones in Italy, covering key Italian companies including oil and gas giant Eni SpA, utility Enel SpA, and defense company Finmeccanica SpA.

He also worked for Reuters from June 1997 to January 2001 in London.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
