Dolan Co., a Minneapolis-based company that owns weekly business journals across the country, is interested in selling its papers in Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mississippi.
Rich Laden of the Colorado Springs Gazette writes, “‘We are currently negotiating with prospective buyers of our Mississippi Business Journal and Colorado Springs Business Journal and related assets,’ the publicly traded, Minneapolis-based company said in its annual report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
“‘At December 31, 2011, we classified the net assets and liabilities of these operations as assets held for sale and reported the results of the businesses in discontinued operations.’
“Dolan didn’t say who it’s negotiating with when it comes to the sale of the two papers. Company officials were not immediately available for comment.
“The Springs and Mississippi publications were described by Dolan as two of the ‘smallest-market, standalone businesses’ within the company’s business information division, which operates approximately 60 publications and 80 websites in 21 markets, according to the SEC filing.”
