DJ/WSJ makes beat changes to Paris bureau

Gráinne McCarthy, the Paris bureau chief for The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires, made the following staff announcement on Friday:

I am delighted to announce a couple of changes in the DJ-WSJ Paris bureau.

Noémie Bisserbe officially takes over the French banking beat, an area she has been covering on an interim basis for several months now. Noémie joined Dow Jones in August and as well as helping to cover general and financial news in Paris, she has been a key contributor to banking coverage out of Paris. She formally takes on the beat at a time when there has never been more interest in the French banks as they stand at the epicenter of the euro-zone crisis. Like other members of the integrated Paris bureau, Noémie will file for all news platforms.

Noémie joined us from the Graduate School of Journalism at UC Berkeley, where she was an international visiting scholar and Bill Gates scholar working on an investigative project on carbon trade in East Africa. Prior to that, Noémie was an assistant editor at Business World in New Delhi, covering finance, security and the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Among her previous jobs, she was also the India correspondent for French business daily Les Echos.

A Paris native, Noémie has a graduate degree in business from EDHEC Business School in Lille.

Nadya Masidlover has also joined the Paris bureau as a reporter, helping to staff the busy French slot and cover corporate and financial/general news. Nadya joins us from a French publication called Moneyweek, la Vie Financiere, where she was in charge of the magazine’s cover articles section. She has previously written for Le Revenu, Les Echos and Slate.fr.

Hailing from the UK, Nadya has a Master’s in Journalism and a Bachelor’s in Economics and Business from Université de Paris 1.
