Ilana Kaplan has been hired as the news editor at Digiday, which covers the media industry.
She started on Thursday.
Kaplan had been a culture writer for The Independent. She has also been a freelance writer for the past 10 years, and her work has been published in places such as The New York Times, New York Magazine, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Billboard, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Glamour and Esquire.
She also has been a contributing editor at Paper Magazine and a contributing writer at Paste.
She graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in English and journalism and media studies.
