Des Moines business newspaper sold

The Des Moines Business Record newspaper has been sold to the same company that recently purchased the Fort Worth Business press, according to a story in the Des Moines Register.

Patt Johnson wrote, “Wimer’s Business Publications Corp., which publishes the Des Moines Business Record and dsm magazine, was sold Monday to family-owned Brown Media Holdings of Cincinnati for an undisclosed price.

“‘I look at this as a succession plan,’ Wimer said Monday. ‘At my age, I needed to find a company that would continue Business Publications and that met all my standards.’

“Brown fit that criteria, Wimer said. Brown has guaranteed job security for the 35 employees at Business Publications and is committed to continuing the growth at the Business Record that has been occuring for several years, Wimer said.”
