New York Times Sunday business editor Timothy O’Brien sent out the following message to the staff:
We’re sorry to let you know that Patty Kranz is leaving us, to join Morgan Stanley, the Wall Street powerhouse, where she will oversee an internal web site that disseminates economic news and analysis for the firm’s financial advisors.
As the deputy editor of Sunday Business since 2007, Patty has been an energetic, collegial and insightful member of our crew. She has juggled the demands of front-page features and inside columns with great goodwill and commitment. And she’s a model of patience and determination. It’s tough to see her go, but it’s heartening to see her pursuing something that she feels is so exciting and promising.
Patty’s last day will be Friday, November 5. We’ll plan a proper send off for her at a later date and let you know the details. In the meantime, please wish her well.
Kranz joined the Times from BusinessWeek in 2007. She has an undergraduate degree in European history and French from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University.
