Kourtney Geers, who has served as managing editor of the Denver Business Journal since mid-2018, is the paper’s new editor in chief, reports Ed Sealover of the Business Journal.

Sealover reports, “Geers succeeds Rebecca Troyer, who left last month to become director of email publications for American City Business Journals, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based parent company of DBJ. Troyer had served in that role since April 2018, when longtime Editor-in-Chief Neil Westergaard retired.

“Before coming to the DBJ, Geers served as director of digital news production for The Denver Post and previously was a web producer at national political publication Politico. She is a graduate of the journalism school at the University of Missouri.

“DBJ Publisher Kevin Pitts said that Geers stood out from a competitive field of applicants, noting that she’s shown exceptional news judgment and leadership skills while serving in the No. 2 position in the newsroom.”
