Jeff Martin, who joined Defense News in 2017 as a reporter/producer, has been laid off.
Martin hosted and produced Defense News Weekly, a broadcast show on PBS in the National Capitol Region and on American Forces Network globally.
After more than a year, he was promoted to his current post of associate editor for multimedia where he managed multimedia content across the publication’s portfolio.
He tweets:
“I was laid off today from Defense News after 2 months of being furloughed. I’m sad that my time with the company has ended in this way. But–all is not lost. I’ll be reporting to active duty in the USAF sometime later this summer and can’t wait.”
Prior to joining Defense News, Martin was a legislative research intern at Capitol Strategies Partners LLC. Before that, he was a promotions intern at NBC Washington and also served as a news source intern at CNN.
Apart from these platforms, Martin has also interned at National Republican Senatorial Committee, Radio America and American Veterans Center. He was also a National Journalism Center fellow and has worked as a show host/producer at UATV.
Martin is a B.A. in broadcast journalism and political science from American University.
