Entertainment news site Deadline Hollywood has hired Dawn C. Chmielewski as its technology editor.
She will report to Deadline co-editors-in-chief Mike Fleming Jr. and Nellie Andreeva.
A story on its website states, “Chmielewski is a seasoned journalist who has been writing about the intersection of tech and entertainment since the days of Napster, working at the San Jose Mercury News in the heart of Silicon Valley and as an entertainment reporter at the Los Angeles Times. She most recently was senior editor at the technology news site Recode. She will be based in Los Angeles and her coverage will span technology, business and entertainment.”

As an entertainment reporter at the Times, she was responsible for covering two of the world’s largest entertainment conglomerates, Walt Disney Co. and News Corp., now 21st Century Fox.
Her reporting about the Hollywood talent agencies led to a multi-part series about pedophiles working in the entertainment industry. These articles set the stage for a change in California law to require background checks for managers, publicists and others with unsupervised access to child actors.
