The National Press Foundation has received a $100,000 grant from Evelyn Y. Davis and the Evelyn Y. Davis Foundation for support of business programs for journalists.
The grant will establish two seminars annually for journalists concerned with financial reporting skills. They will be known as the Evelyn Y. Davis Business Seminars and will be stand-alone events, or incorporated into ongoing and appropriate programs.
“We are very grateful to Mrs. Davis and her foundation for their trust and support of our educational activities,” said NPF president Bob Meyers in a statement. “This grant will enable us to deepen our commitment to journalists at a time when traditional methods of training are being eliminated in newsrooms across the country.”
Evelyn Y. Davis is the editor of, “Highlights and Lowlights,” a compendium of views on financial issues and corporate conduct. She is also a well-known corporate critic, demanding accountability from publically owned companies by her attendance at annual meetings.
